The Professional Development Committee provides opportunities for staff to grow and develop in their profession.

The Professional Development committee includes five subcommittees: Onboarding, Professional Learning and Development, Awards and Recognition, Service and Social. Each group is designed to provide different opportunities for growth and success within the division of Student Affairs.

About the Subcommittees

Onboarding provides skills and knowledge to assist staff in becoming effective employees of student affairs. Initiatives include new employee orientations and a mentor program.

Professional Learning and Development activities include webinars, workshops and lectures and a book club.

Arrowhead Professional Development Presentation Opportunities

The Professional Development Committee now offers the opportunity for Student Affairs staff to share original presentations or workshops with colleagues. Presentations take place virtually and are open to all Student Affairs professional staff.

The proposed presentation must be no shorter than one hour and no longer than two hours in length, learning outcomes must be clearly stated and the presentation topic must connect to the mission and vision of the division.

If interested, fill out the Presentation Interest Form and a committee member will review the proposal. Please email Ashley Shoemake with questions.

Awards and Recognition acknowledges staff dedication while highlighting professional, academic and life achievements. Activities include unit spotlights and acknowledgement of outstanding employees or units.

Service provides opportunities for staff to assist both local and campus communities. Units compete to accumulate service hours and there are service related events such as spring clean-up.

Social provides opportunities for staff to make connections across units in a fun and supportive environment. The group coordinates social events and programs throughout the year.
