Professional Development

  • Sept. 30: Nominations are due for Student Affairs employee of the quarter award.

Athletics

  • For the first time since 2009, the Comet volleyball team is a top 10 program in NCAA Division III. The Comets climbed two spots to No. 9 last week, matching the program'shighest-ever ranking.

  • Sept. 28: Women's soccer vs. Austin College, 7 p.m., Soccer Field.

Health and Wellness Initiatives

Counseling Center

  • Clinical services/sessions for the week of Sept. 12: Intakes, consultation and counseling (179), crisis services (13), psychiatric evaluations and treatment (22), group/couples (39), testing (3), mind/body lab (1), outreach (5).
  • Center for Students in Recovery services for the week of Sept. 12: Individual recovery support (9), other contacts (33). Group meetings: 12 step-all addictions (1), Al-Anon (1), meditation group (1), Nourish eating disorder support group (2), SMART (2), outreach (2).
 

Recreational Sports

  • The northeast entrance of the Activity Center will be closed for four weeks due to renovations of the control desk area. Use the north entrance doors by the AC Main Gym for access.
  • Sept. 26: Body Pump Express, 11 a.m., Multipurpose Orange Room. Free to all Recreational Sports members.
  • Sept. 27: Time Out Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., RHSW.

Student Union

  • Looking for stress relief or a little fun on your lunch break? The Student Union offers new billiards tables, plus table tennis tables and tabletop gaming.
 

Student Volunteerism

  • Sept. 28: Operation Upcycle: Jump Rope for Kids, 2-3:30 p.m., Galaxy Rooms.
  • Sept. 30: OSV Student Leader Fall Retreat, 1-4 p.m., Libra Room.

  • Oct. 22: Viva Volunteer. Group registration is closed. Individual registrations will be available on OrgSync beginning Oct. 3 for students not already registered with an organization. Limited spots, first come first served.

  • LLC was recognized by the National Residence Hall Honorary for faculty member of the month, Dr. Janell Straach, and student member of the month, Nivedita Nataraj.
