Awards and Acknowledgements

  • Dr. Rodolfo Hernandez Guerrero, International Partnership Development Director, recently received the 2018 Timothy J. Rutenber Award from the Association of International Education Administrators.
  • Catherine Pickrel recently presented about UTD's gender inclusive housing to the SWACUHO delegation at its annual conference. Ours is a flagship program for UT System and many other schools in the region.
  • Bruce August Jr., assistant director of the Multicultural Center, was re-elected to the board of directors for the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education.
  • D'Andrea Young, student development specialist for the Multicultural Center, was selected to serve on the national advisory council for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.

  • April 3: Comets Giving Day. Please consider giving to Student Affairs Departments, including the International Center, Athletics, the Military and Veteran Center, and the Office of Student Volunteerism.
  • Thank you to all who participated in the SACSCOC review meetings. Student Affairs has a significant role in the implementation of the QEP and it was great to see our staff supporting UTD's efforts.
 

Professional Development

  • April 7: Spring service event with the City of Richardson, 9-11 a.m. The Service Committee will be cleaning up the railroad area between Lookout Drive and Synergy Park Boulevard.
  • April 10: Sexual assault survivor Monika Kørra shares how she turned tragedy into a message of hope and healing, 10 a.m., SSA Auditorium.
  • The Professional Development Committee is in need of a few more staff to serve on committees. Review the committee charges and contact Tricia Losavio to volunteer.
