Awards and Acknowledgements

  • Bruce August Jr., assistant director of the Multicultural Center, was selected to serve as a Cluster Facilitator for a national session of LeaderShape.
  • Jessie Budd, marketing digital media specialist, recently received a Silver Award from CASE (the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) for her editing/design of images for Temoc's calendar. Capri Jordan, marketing student worker and a senior in the School of Arts, Technology and Emerging Communication, also received a Silver Award from CASE for her student-produced Homecoming video.
  • Ashley Garner, coordinator for Living Learning Communities, recently had her article about Certificate of Diversity and Inclusion published in the February SWACUHO newsletter (see page 32).

Vice President for Student Affairs

  • April 3: Comets Giving Day. Please consider giving to Student Affairs departments, including the International Center, Athletics, the Military and Veteran Center, the Office of Student Volunteerism and Comet Spirit Programs.
 

Professional Development

  • April 6: Student Affairs Happy Hour, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Cafe Gecko in Richardson.
  • April 7: Spring service event with the City of Richardson, 9-11 a.m. The Service Committee will be cleaning up the railroad area between Lookout Drive and Synergy Park Boulevard. Please RSVP.

Health Center

  • April 10: "The Hunting Ground," 1-3 p.m., SSA Auditorium. The screening is in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and to promote the launch of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. The SANE program will offer free sexual assault exams to current faculty, staff and students who have been victims of sexual assault.
 

University Recreation

  • April 7: Comet Strong Competition (powerlifting and field events). Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., Activity Center fitness area.
 

Wellness Center

  • April 4: Information booth with the Student Counseling Center, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., SU.
  • April 5: Cookies, Consent and Coming Out, 6 p.m., SSA 12.471.
  • April 6-7: U in the Driver's Seat Alcohol Symposium. A two-day event located in the SSA and SU. UT Dallas is hosting the annual symposium for other Texas universities.

Student Media

  • Student Media recently attended the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) conference and competition, where The Mercury won first in Division 1 overall excellence in newspapers. In addition, AMP placed third in overall excellence in the general magazine category. The groups received 25 awards overall, including Radio UTD's first TIPA award.
