Intercultural Programs

  • April 13-17: iWeek-Virtual Edition. Join Intercultural Programs on Facebook and Instagram each day for global engagement activities, videos and posts from cultural student organizations. Visit the iWeek website for details about events.
 

Student Development

  • April 15: Help celebrate Temoc's birthday by signing his digital birthday card that will be posted across Student Affairs social media accounts.
  • Now through April 18: Student organization locker and bulletin board requests are open on Presence.
  • Now through May 6: Student organization transition/renewal through Presence.
  • Student Government campaigning and elections are postponed until Weeks of Welcome. Campaigning will begin the first week of classes and elections will take place the second week.

  • April 14: Meteor Theater Movie Trivia Game Show, 7 p.m., Instagram.
 

Student Volunteerism

  • We are collecting videos about the environment, sustainability and more for Digital Earth Day on April 22. If your department wants to participate, contact Anne Hart for details.
  • In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 13-17), be sure to follow the OSV on social media for at-home service videos and ways to volunteer.
  • This week's virtual volunteer opportunities include the below three organizations.
  • Be My Eyes connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers and company representatives for visual assistance through a live video call.
  • Catchafire is a search tool for online volunteer projects. Each one has a timeline that can range from an hour to a few weeks.
  • Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable populations.
 

Student Transition Initiatives

Military and Veteran Center

  • If you are aware of a student who receives mobilization orders, please refer them to the MVC.
  • The MVC has a veteran benevolent fund to provide limited financial support to currently enrolled student veterans who are unable to meet essential expenses due to temporary or unexpected hardship. Contact MVC staff for information/application.

University Career Center

  • April 13-17: National Student Employment Week. Departments are encouraged to recognize their student employees. Virtual certificates will be emailed to each student nominated and the winner will be announced and recognized on the UCC website on April 17.
  • April 14: ExP Virtual Seminar Series Roadmap to Remote Internship and Job Search, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., via Teams.
  • April 15: UCC Virtual Power Hour Studying and Working from Home During a Pandemic, 12-1 p.m., via Teams.
  • UCC Virtual office hours, 2-3 p.m., Monday-Friday.
  • Virtual Resume Lab, 10-11 a.m., Monday-Friday.

LLC

  • LLC modified the Certificate of Diversity and Inclusion to a virtual format and all students are welcome to participate.
  • The Women in STEAM application is open until May 1. Details and application are online.
  • LLC staff are hosting virtual office hours: Megan Reder, Wednesdays, 2-4 p.m.; Sarah Meakin, Thursdays, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; Mary Jane Partain, Fridays, 1-3 p.m.
