  • I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts over the last couple of months. You all have been amazing and have stepped up significantly. I realize we are entering this summer with many unanswered questions. We will continue to share information with you as it becomes available. There's a long way to go before we get through this. Health & Wellness Initiatives

Counseling Center

  • Clinical services/sessions for the week of May 4: Teletherapy consultation (1), teletherapy counseling (45), teletherapy initial evaluations (6), teletherapy crisis (3), teletherapy psychiatric evaluations (4), teletherapy psychiatric follow ups (29), teletherapy ED assessments (2), professional consultations (10), teletherapy outreach (1).
  • Center for Students in Recovery services for the week of May 4: Recovery planning (7), Nourish (3), Bullet Journaling (3), Fun Friday (5), Star Wars trivia outreach (5).
  • CSR peer-led support groups will continue this summer via Teams, including Bullet Journaling/Get Schooled, Mondays, 2 p.m.; All Recovery Meetings, T-W-Th, 2 p.m.; Nourish, Fridays, 12 p.m.; and Fun Friday/lounge time, Fridays, 3-5 p.m.
 

Wellness Center

  • Suicide prevention trainings are offered to all Student Affairs departments this summer beginning the first week of June. Email Kacey Sebeniecher to schedule a training via Teams for your area.
  • The SWC is providing one-on-one consultations to students virtually throughout the summer.
  • Health education and prevention information will continue to be shared via social media on Instagram and Facebook throughout the summer.
 

Student Engagement Initiatives

Intercultural Programs

  • May 19: Join us on Instagram for a live chat to discuss Geert Hofstede's cultural dimensions (part 1), a framework that individuals use to understand, compare and contrast cultural dimensions from around the world, 1 p.m.
  • ICP will continue offering weekly live chats on Instagram during May and June, including services for international students as well as global engagement opportunities.
  • International Student Orientation registration for students entering in summer and fall 2020 is open.
 

Student Union

  • The SU is undergoing exercises to forecast the types of activities, meetings and events that could potentially be held in the SU and SSA this fall. Updates about scheduling and operations will be shared throughout the summer. Reach out to Dan Goodwin for specific questions.
 

Student Volunteerism

  • May 19: Let's Talk Volunteering, 1 p.m., Instagram Live.
  • This week's virtual volunteer opportunities include: Carnamah Historical Society, where volunteers transcribe diaries and letters for the State Library of Washington; the Smithsonian Archives of American Gardens, where participants tag images with plant types and structures; and the American Red Cross where helpers become a digital advocates for the organization.
  • May 27: Podcast Listening Party. Join the OSV on Teams to listen to and discuss a podcast about service and social impacts. A meeting link will be sent to registered participants the morning of the event.
  • June 3: Acts of Service. Join the OSV on Teams to volunteer together for an hour. A meeting link will be sent to registered participants the morning of the event.

Finance and Administrative Services

Comet Card Office

  • Staff in the office are reaching out to students after they register for fall classes with instructions for submitting their photo for their Comet Card.
  • Comet Cards will not be issued over the summer. A decision for fall distribution is pending at this time.
 

University Housing

Housing Operations

  • Catherine Bourne has left the university after 11 years of service. Her last day was May 15.
